Ride, Race, and Explore: Super Nintendo World
Nintendo adds a twist inspired by Mario Kart and Super Mario Bros.
Get ready to jump into the Mushroom Kingdom because Super Nintendo World is coming to Universal Studios Hollywood on February 17th! Super Nintendo World is a land anchored around the look and feel of Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. The land will feature a showcase ride inspired by the Mario Kart racing titles and will be designed to encourage guest participation with light games and interactions stationed throughout.
Guests can participate in a game-like experience, complete with wristbands and a smartphone app to keep score and collect coins. The Power-Up Bands are advanced wristbands that connect to Universal Studios Hollywood’s app to enhance the guest experience in the park. These include keeping track of individual and team scores, collecting digital coins, and obtaining keys after completing challenges. The bands also allow for unique interactions with Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach. They come in six character-themed designs and can be purchased within the park and at SUPER NINTENDO WORLD retail shops.
This trend of active play in theme parks started with Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter and has been continued by Disney with lands inspired by “Cars,” “Avatar,” and “Star Wars.”
It’s time to put your Mario Kart skills to the test!
The centerpiece attraction, “Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge”, is an advanced ride that combines augmented reality and projection mapping technology with physical set pieces.
Guests will be seated in four-seat vehicles using AR goggles to navigate familiar courses from the Mario Kart™ game series. This unique feature sets the ride apart from other attractions at the theme park. The ride’s goal is for guests to compete as part of Team Mario to collect coins and win the Golden Cup while defeating Team Bowser. This ride offers an exciting and challenging experience for guests of all ages and gaming abilities.
Do You Dare Enter Bowsers Castle?
Bowser’s Castle is an iconic feature of the SUPER NINTENDO WORLD. It showcases a stunning statue of Bowser himself and houses the famous “Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge” ride. As visitors explore the castle, they will encounter winding corridors, a hall of medallions and trophies, and learn more about Bowser’s sinister plot to defeat Team Mario.

The land will also feature a “Toadstool Cafe,” where guests can dine with Nintendo characters. Toad will greet guests and serve a menu of gourmet dishes, including Toadstool Cheesy Garlic Knots, Super Mushroom soup, Piranha Plant Caprese, Mario Bacon Cheeseburger, Luigi Pesto Chicken Burger,? Block Tiramisu and Princess Peach Cupcake. In addition to the delicious food, the Toadstool Cafe will feature a whimsical atmosphere with mushroom-shaped decorations and colorful accents. Guests can dine indoors or outdoors on the patio, where they can enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the land. Whether you’re a fan of Mario and Luigi or love great food, the Toadstool Cafe is the perfect place to dine in the Mushroom Kingdom.
Collect Your Coins, Before Time Runs Out.
The 1-UP Factory retail shop offers a variety of collectible memorabilia to celebrate a visit to SUPER NINTENDO WORLD. The shop offers items such as Mario, and Luigi-themed apparel, character hats, and plush characters of Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Bowser.
It’s clear that the trend of interactive and immersive theme park experiences is here to stay, and Super Nintendo World is just the next step in this revolution.
